Baccarat Standards
Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards. Cards that are valued under 10 are said to be worth face value while ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Wagers are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual people; they simply represent the two hands to be dealt).
Two hands of 2 cards will now be dealt to the ‘banker’ and ‘player’. The score for any hand shall be the grand total of the 2 cards, but the first digit is removed. For eg, a hand of seven … 5 gives a tally of 2 (7plus5=twelve; drop the ‘1′).
A 3rd card can be given depending on the foll. protocols:
- If the gambler or banker has a total score of eight or nine, the two players stand.
- If the bettor has 5 or lower, he/she hits. gamblers stand otherwise.
- If gambler stands, the banker hits of 5 or lower. If the bettor hits, a chart will be used to determine if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The higher of the two scores wins. Successful stakes on the banker pay at 19 to twenty (even odds less a five % commission. Commission is monitored and paid out when you leave the table so be sure to have funds left before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay one to one. Winning bets for tie commonly pays 8 to 1 but occasionally 9 to one. (This is a terrible bet as ties will happen lower than one every 10 hands. Avoid wagering on a tie. Regardless odds are significantly better – nine to one versus 8 to one)
When played accurately, baccarat presents pretty good odds, aside from the tie bet obviously.
Baccarat Strategy
As with just about all games, Baccarat has some well-known misconceptions. One of which is very similar to a roulette myth. The past is surely not a predictor of future outcomes.
