Further, in addition to the two Maine casinos, the state of Maine is home to two racetrack facilities, the Bangor Raceway and the Scarborough Downs. The Hollywood Slots Casino is located in Bangor Maine and offers offer 475 different slots to choose from. Alternatively, among the Maine casinos tourists will find that the Penobscot High Stakes Bingo Casino rests in Old Town and it is a casino owned by Native Americans that offers Pull Tab gambling in addition to Bingo gaming. Meanwhile, in addition to the Maine casinos, for those individuals looking for alternative gambling entertainment, Maine is home to two racetracks. Bangor Raceway is a seasonal operation that is open during the months of May through July and with a nominal entrance fee, visitors can get in on the harness racing action. Alternatively, the Scarborough Downs is open year round, every day, from noon until midnight. Again an entrance fee applies, and visitors can enjoy harness racing, live racing, and service at the Scarborough Club House.

Of course, while one is in Maine, they would do themselves a serious injustice if they failed to visit some of Maine’s historical attractions in between their visits to the Maine casinos. Maine is home to the splendid Pine Haven Winter Park, Moose Point State Park, the Farnsworth Art Museum, the Rockin’ Horse Stables, the Carousel Music Theater, the Cap’N Fish’s Whale Watch, and York’s Wild Kingdom, just to name a few of the many incredible destinations in Maine.

What is a Good Poker Bonus?

April 28th, 2009

Online casinos are a lot different from their monolithic brick-and-mortar cousins. Unlike traditional casinos, online gambling can't offer the glitz, atmosphere and free room upgrades that keep player feeling welcomed. Still, online casinos want to let their customers know they appreciate them. In lieu of a few freebies tossed as the players, online casinos offer something even better: free money.

That's the poker bonus magic. To attract new players, Internet poker rooms compete for offering the best sign-up bonus. The bonus is often a match of your initial deposit up to a certain amount or percentage. For instance, a casino with a 25 percent bonus up to $100 means that a new player will get a quarter of his initial deposit up to $100 if he puts in at least $400 right off the bat.

Some poker sites simply offer a flat bonus rate, such as paying you $25 regardless of how much you deposit. Weigh the bonus offered against the quality of the poker site before you commit to the deposit. Do some research and check around online. The highest bonus in the world isn't worth very much if playing at the casino is a horrid experience. Just find a site that's right for you.

Online poker rooms don't just want to attract new players; the best ones reward their loyal players. Often, sites will offer gamblers a certain number of points over time depending on how much money they've bet. Once a player has a certain number of points, he or she can urn them in for cash. It's often not a lot of money, but any free money is better than none at all.

Several online casinos have standard sign-up bonuses and reward systems, but many sites like to mix things up every once in awhile and offer special promotions from time to time. Sometime, a player can find a better deal just by looking around. Some referral websites have worked out special deals with the casinos, and you can often find special deals through that site only that can't be found everywhere else.

Another good place to look for poker bonus deals are gaming directory websites and poker review guides. If you can find a good poker message board, keep your eyes open. You never know who will find the next great deal to share with the rest of the computer literate poker community.

Beat the Online Casinos and Make Money Every Time

April 16th, 2009

Wouldn’t it be nice to make a bundle of money quickly from online casinos, with minimal effort, at home in your pajamas? Of course it would. I for one would love to have money flowing into my bank account, playing only a few hours a week from home, so I’d have more time to spend with my kids & family.

With current intense competitions in online casino businesses, hundreds of online casino operators offer various incentives new players in their casinos. With online gambling industry still in its infancy stage, all operators are throwing out large incentives to get more new players into their casinos. Unknown to a lot of people out there, it is currently possible to make substantial profits by manipulating the incentives against the casinos’ favor.

With more and more incentives money thrown out by the online casinos nowadays, sometimes as high as $300, a well-educated player is able to play and never lose his own money in almost all the casinos. All this is possible by understanding the incentive rules, using the best play strategy on specific casino game & targeting short-term plays. Since there are more than hundreds of operators out there, and many new one coming out each day, the potential of such short-term plays and profits are enormous.

Now is the time to make a profit from the online casinos before all this heat dies off. Strike while the iron is hot. Beat the casinos before they working to close down this industry’s loophole.

It is not surprising when our analyst found out that one of the leading online casino operators decided to tighten its bonus policy to curb new players from abusing its generous bonuses recently.

Fortunately, with such intense competitions among all the casino operators to get a share of the large Internet market, free casino moneys for new players are here to stay, perhaps for a year or two.

Most operators have no choice but to give in to the competition pressure. Welcome bonuses are offered again and again to get more new players into their casino. However, our analyst would like to warn that such trend will cease to continue once the online gambling industry reaches its maturity.

Most operators will stop the welcome bonus scheme once they capitalised the market share and the online gambling industry reaches its maturity. When this happens, we will see the trend of giving out generous welcome bonuses dying out and been replaced by loyalty bonuses for retaining the allocated customer base.

Most of the opportunistic players have been able to manipulate current industry weaknesses and make a substantial profits from the casino operators.

Read more on how it is possible to beat the online casinos in this era by capitalizing on the transition period of online casino industry.

The Way To Win At The Casino

April 14th, 2009

As Jane Austen said, ‘it is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, will lose it all at the casino unless he knows what he’s doing.’

And if she didn’t, she should have.

To go further, it is a truth universally acknowledged that casinos stay in business because gamblers don’t know when they’re beaten.

The best way to win at the casino? It’s the only way - know when to stop.

If you’re going to gamble, you have to accept the inescapable fact that in the long run the casinos always win.

So why do I - and countless millions-still gamble? Because in the short term the casinos can sometimes lose.

The key to successful gambling is knowing when to stop - whether you’re winning or losing. The desire to keep chasing even bigger profits or recoup growing losses is very strong. It’s no surprise that some call it gambling fever.

Watching a documentary the other night about gamblers in Las Vegas, I was struck by how many times players used the phrase ‘Give up because I’m losing? No way-I’m not a quitter.’ As the saying goes, Vegas wasn’t built on casinos’ losses.

My rules for successful-and enjoyable-gambling are:

1. Know your games. This may sound obvious, but many have lost money learning the ins and outs of a game. Make sure you know the rules, the odds, the good bets and bad bets, and any strategy or system recommended by players-for free.

2. Always set a time limit on your sessions, regardless of how you’re doing. Keep them short, and change games frequently.

3. Set a win limit and loss limit-and stick to them absolutely. Allow yourself the potential to win at least twice what you’ll allow yourself to lose. So if your session loss limit is £50, allow yourself to win £100.

4. Accept that sometimes-maybe most times-you’re going to stop at a loss and walk away from the table with less than you came with.

5. Enjoy yourself! Remember, we’re leisure gamblers, not professional blackjack players. We do this for fun, because we enjoy the atmosphere, the thrill, the risks, not because we’re trying to get rich.

I love gambling - despite the stigma attached to it-and I enjoy it because I have no expectations of it. It’s just a harmless hobby that takes a few pounds from me now and again but which provides me with hours of entertainment. Try saying that about cigarettes!

Background Research for an Online Casino

April 13th, 2009

If you want to gamble online, you’ve probably noticed there are thousands of online casinos! So how do you know which one to pick? Well, it helps to be your own detective. Here are some things you should look for before you register with an online casino:

CUSTOMER SUPPORT: Be wary of any site that only offers an email address or web form for their customer support. Chances are they won’t be very responsive if you have a problem. Make sure you can find a phone number and/or live chat support. Give their support a test run with a phone call or chat. Make sure the phone number doesn’t simply lead to a voice mail system. Once you contact someone, ask some questions to make sure the staff is competent and knowledgeable.

READ THE FINE PRINT: Most websites have a ″terms and conditions″ section. Read it closely–no matter how boring it may seem!–to make sure it’s fair. Some sites put hidden clauses in their fine print, so check it carefully.

LOOK FOR SEAL OF APPROVAL: The eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Associate (eCOGRA) is a non-profit organization that sets standards for online casinos. Their ″Play It Safe″ seal of approval means the site has been inspected for its safety, efficiency and honesty. Moreover, an online casino with the seal is also monitored regularly. And, if you have a dispute with the casino, eCOGRA has a dispute regulation service. It’s a good idea to look for this seal when researching online casinos.

TEST IT OUT: Most online casinos offer a chance for you to enjoy the experience with ″play″ money. You don’t have to invest any cash, although you don’t win money, either. Try a test run to see if you like the casino’s set-up and the entire online gambling experience.

Doyle Brunson

April 13th, 2009

Doyle Brunson began his gambling career by taking part in illegal games held in Exchange Street, Texas along with a friend, Dwayne Hamilton. Later on the two of them traveled through Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma taking part in bigger games and meeting other professional gamblers like Sailor Roberts and Amarillo Slim. Dwayne Hamilton left the group after some time and left the other three who for the next six years gambled on practically everything. Then they made a trip to Las Vegas and lost it all. That broke up the partnership though the three remain friends to this day. Doyle Brunson lives in Las Vegas.

Besides his success at the game itself, Doyle Brunson’s book Super/System, was also very successful and is considered by many as one of the best books on the game of poker. The book was first published in 1978 and for the first time the average individual was able to look at the game the way a professional gambler would. A sequel, Super/System 2 was published in 2004. Doyle Brunson is not the only contributor to these books but it includes inputs from many other professional players like Mike Caro, Bobby Baldwin, David Sklansky, Joey Hawthorne, and Chip Reese. Besides these two books, Brunson has also written Poker Wisdom of a Champion, a book that was originally titled According to Doyle.

Doyle Brunson is still active on the world poker scene and in 2003 he won his 9th gold bracelet. In 2004, he finished 53rd out of 2576 players in No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em Championship as well as winning the Legends of Poker World Poker Tour that earned him another $1 million in prize money. His winnings continued into 2005 when he won his 10th World Series of Poker bracelet. In doing so he tied the score with Johnny Chan who had also won the same series for the 10th time.

Doyle Brunson’s nickname, ″Texas Dolly,″ is a result of mispronunciation by Jimmy Snyder who was expected to say, ″Texas Doyle″ when announcing Brunson but read the first name incorrectly. The name got stuck and his friends in the gambling world simply call him Dolly.

Two Texas holdem hands are named after Doyle Brunson. The Ten and Two of any suit is one such hand while the other is known by his name and comprises of the Ace and Queen of any suit. The second hand was named based on a comment in his book that claims Doyle Brunson never plays this hand. Doyle runson now has his own online Poker room called ″Doyles Room″.

Win at Online Gambling Part 1 Games of Chance

April 11th, 2009

If you want to win at online gambling beat the casino, at games of chance all you need to do is place bets with the best odds.

Most people who play games of chance never win gambling online as they don’t know the odds. Don’t make the same mistake, get the odds in your favor.

Here we will look at how you can do just that.

The games we will look at are: Baccarat, Roulette, craps and slots.

Why you must only play the bets with the best odds

If you play without the odds in your favor, you will not win gambling online. If you know the odds in these games, you can beat the casino.

As these are games of chance, there is nothing you can do to influence the result of the game. Systems will not help you win when gambling online as they are based on the premise you can influence the result by studying past results.

There is something you can do however.

You can increase your odds of success and win when gambling online and this is done simply by picking the bet with the best odds.

The theory of probability.

Probability is an area of mathematics that is concerned with calculating the likelihood of an event’s occurrence.

To simplify the theory, the probability is further expressed as a number between 1 and 0. With a probability of 1 an event is considered a certainty:

A good example is a coin toss. the probability of a coin toss resulting in either ″heads″ or ″tails″ is 1, because there are no other possibilities, as it is assumed the coin will land flat.

Sometimes an event can have a probability of .5, and then it is considered to have equal odds of occurring or not occurring:

As in the example of the coin toss, the probability of a coin toss resulting in ″tails″ is .5; because the toss is equally as likely to result in ″heads.″

To quantify uncertain measures of random events, probability theory applies sets of precise calculations. It is even part of a large part of math called non-linear dynamics (the Chaos Theory), and many studies have been conducted with games of chance as the subject.

The odds are what they are!

One of the basic errors many gamblers and the reason they never win when gambling online is their belief that the odds can get better if an event happens several times in succession.

For example, if heads tails comes up 10 or 50 times in a row, the odds do not change for tails coming up on the next toss. There will always be a 50 - 50% or .5.

How To Find Top Rated Online Casinos And Bonus Offers

April 2nd, 2009

Online casinos have proliferated cyberspace and are patronized by the veteran and the novice gambler alike. Nevertheless, for both categories of players the task of locating a dependable, steadfast online casino can be rather daunting.

One can determine an internet casino with a good rating, on the basis of a number of parameters, such as:

-High payout percentages

-Generous bonuses

-Quick casino software downloads

-Range and variations in the games being offered

-Outstanding game quality

-Exceptional support

Other essential factors that must be taken into account are those that relate to casino ratings, word of mouth evaluations, official assessments and casino audit results.

There are many sites today whose sole purpose is to counsel prospective gamblers in their quest for top casinos offering the best bonuses. These casino advisory sites conduct research on a wide range of casinos, taking into consideration downloads, customer support, bonuses, software and methods of withdrawing real money. Recommendations are then made for those internet casinos that exceed preset expectations and standards.

Signup bonuses are offered by several online casinos when making first deposits. This is an incentive to new players as the bankroll can get multiplied immediately, depending upon the sign-up offer.

These bonuses usually match a percentage of the player’s deposit with a dollar maximum, and the specific clause requires a minimum wager before permitting cash out. The catch though, is that game-play at specific casino games might be excluded from the wagering requirement calculation. Read the fine print which often states that you need to play several thousand times the amount of the bonus, playing random games that may be of no interest to you.

A word of caution! No matter which source you use, to locate a top rated internet casino, you must always check and question its reliability. Steer clear of 'rogue casinos'. Such a casino might either refuse to pay the player or it may use a 'cheating software'.

Some casinos have been mathematically proven to cheat; a quick Google search can tell you which names to say away from. A similar Google search can also give you ideas on which online casinos are widely considered to be the most reliable.

The internet is flooded with gambling opportunities and navigating oneself can be challenging. But with prudence, vigilance, caution and careful analysis you can find the best rated online casinos and take advantage of the highest available bonuses!

Gambling Tips for Online and Land Based Casinos

April 1st, 2009

To gamble is to risk but there are options to help cut back the risk.

Set your limit

First and foremost important is to remember, gambling is for fun! Do not gamble if you cannot afford to lose. Have a specific amount set aside for gambling and stick to it. Don’t borrow money to gamble and don’t ever go past your set limit.

Take Frequent breaks.

Don’t attempt to play at a casino if you are under stress, depressed or troubled in any way. All distractions can cause you to lose your concentration and obviously result in losses you may not incur otherwise. Bright lights and loud noises are created to the casinos benefit. If you are gambling online, ensure that you are not going to be distracted and if you are, stop play until another time.

Slots Tips

Tip #1. Always play the max coin amount on progressive slots. It is best to play max regardless of whether the slot is progressive or not but how painful would it be to hit a jackpot on less than max bet?

Tip #2. Know the payout schedule before sitting down at a slot machine. Just like in poker, knowledge of the odds and payouts is crucial to developing a good strategy.

Tip #3. If you are not having luck at a particular machine, then move on to another one. Don’t play it all night, hoping for it to finally pay off.

Tip #4. Always ensure your bet registers in the machine prior to pulling the bar or hitting spin, you will not be given the max coin winnings if the machine doesn’t record a max coin bet being placed.

Tip #5. Never leave your machine until you are done playing. There is no worse feeling that someone taking the machine you were playing at because you went for a drink or to use the restroom. Make sure you take care of personal business prior to choosing your slot. There are waitresses for drinks.

Blackjack Tips

Tip #1 The most obvious is to ensure you know the rules of blackjack. It is always a good idea to have a strategy when you play blackjack. All winning systems are based on a basic strategy which consists of statistically speaking, there exists only one best action a player can take for each of the possible hands he can receive versus each possible upcard the dealer may have.

Tip #2 Learn about the house rules of each casino, the better the house rules, the more money you can expect to win in the long run. And yes, house rules do vary between casinos.

Tip #3 Learn the proper way to use your bankroll. There are statistically proven methods to keep control of your balance and the amount of bet you should place based on your total bankroll.

Tip #4Never drink alcohol when you are playing and always leave the game once you start to feel fatigued. You may start to make mistakes that you won’t even notice.

Poker Tips

Tip #1 The best tip for poker playing is to read up on the game play, the variants of the game and ensure you know the rules of the game.

Tip #2 When you first start, it is a good idea to sit out and watch the other players prior to starting your game. Watch how they bet and how much they bet.

Tip #3 As you advance as a player, learn how to bluff. You must know the game well and bluff only when you feel secure that the other players will not call your bluff.

Tip #4 It is also a good idea to try to play against less skillfull opponents. Obviously, you will have a better chance at the game if you have more knowledge and experience.

Tip #5 Most important is what many of us have heard before, ″Know when to hold ‘em and when to fold ″em″. Mistakes are made quite often in poker when players want to stick it out with hands that have no value. That is a guaranteed loss. And stick with the no alcohol while playing rule.

Video Poker Tips

Tip #1 Just as with poker, you must know the game of video poker. There is a wide variant of video poker games, with each having a different set of winning card combinations. It is a good idea to pay attention to whether or not a machine uses one 52-deck of cards or more than one. The more cards there are, the less likely the player will win.

Tip #2 There is no such thing as a loose or tight video poker machine. They do not operate on reels like a slot machine, each card has an equal chance of showing up on any hand.

Tip #3 Always play the maximum number of credits allowed on progressive video poker, if you hit a royal flush, you will want that jackpot.

Tip #4 Until you are a master player, play at the lowest coin denomination amount possible. This will give you more cash to play on and learn as you go.

Tip #5 It can be very helpful to play a handheld video poker game (like you can get at any store with board games), this will also give you experience and a good knowledge of how the games will play.

The most important of all with all games- HAVE FUN!

Betting Exchanges: 5 Reasons Why They Are The Smart Gambler’s Choice

April 1st, 2009

At first it’s easy to feel intimidated by betting exchanges, but when it comes to getting the most bang for your buck the serious online gambler accepts no substitute. Here are a few reasons why:

1.Unbeatable value

A betting exchange places one gambler directly against another, eliminating the bookmaker and the mark-ups they place bet after bet. Remove the other overheads of traditional offline outlets as well (staff costs/maintenance), and you often end up with prices of up to 20% lower than at the bookmaker. This benefit alone makes signing up with an exchange a no-brainer.

2. Bet as the action unfolds.

Betting ″in-play″allows you to respond in real time to changing events- whether it be a change in the weather, an injury to a star player or a sending off. Or maybe you’re unsure which team will be selected, what the game plan will be, or the condition of the pitch? No problem, just grab a beer and wait for the game to start. Later you can assess the factors that will effect your decisions and then make your bet.

3. Winning doesn’t get you banned.

It doesn’t matter how many big wins you have at a betting exchange you’ll never find your stakes limited or, worse, your account shut down. You’re betting against other gamblers, so the exchange has no vested interest in either your wins or your losses.

4. As well as as ″backing″ a selection to win, in a betting exchange you can also ″lay″ a selection to lose. Ever been sure that Tiger Woods wasn’t up to winning a certain tournament? By ″laying″ him at a betting exchange you can basically back the rest of the field to beat him! In such cases you are, in effect, able to take up the role of a bookmaker yourself.

5. Trading bets

The ability to ″trade″ is one of the most attractive characteristics of a betting exchange. In the right circumstances ″backing″ a selection as well as ″laying″ one can result in a position where you profit whatever the outcome. This is not a simple art to perfect, however, and the best approach for anyone new to trading is to play out some situations out on paper first, before pulling out your credit card.

If you’re looking for flexibility in your gambling and value in your stakes, betting exchanges are undoubtedly the way forward. And if it still all looks a little intimidating, try getting started with a practice account. Many betting exchanges will allow you to make a series of dummy bets before taking the plunge in the live market.
