Punto Banco Rules

Baccarat chemin de fer is bet on with 8 decks of cards in a dealing shoe. Cards below 10 are valued at their printed value and with 10, J, Q, K are zero, and A is 1. Wagers are placed on the ‘banker’, the ‘player’, or on a tie (these are not actual people; they simply represent the two hands that are dealt).

Two hands of 2 cards are then dealt to the ‘bank’ and ‘player’. The value for every hand is the sum total of the cards, however the beginning number is discarded. e.g., a hand of five and six has a value of 1 (five plus 6 = eleven; dump the initial ‘1′).

A third card could be given out depending on the rules below:

- If the player or bank has a value of 8 or 9, both players hold.

- If the gambler has less than 5, she takes a card. Players otherwise stay.

- If the player holds, the bank hits on five or lower. If the gambler takes a card, a table is used to see if the house stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The greater of the two hands wins. Winning bets on the banker payout 19:20 (even payout less a five percent rake. Commission are recorded and cleared out when you leave the game so be sure to have cash left before you depart). Winning bets on the gambler pay 1 to 1. Winning wagers for tie frequently pays out at eight to one but sometimes 9:1. (This is a awful wager as ties occur less than one in every ten rounds. Be wary of gambling on a tie. However odds are substantially better for 9 to 1 versus 8:1)

Gambled on properly baccarat banque gives relatively good odds, apart from the tie wager of course.

Punto Banco Method

As with all games Baccarat has a handful of accepted myths. One of which is similar to a misconception in roulette. The past is not an indicator of future events. Keeping score of previous outcomes on a page of paper is a poor use of paper and an insult to the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most accepted and probably the most favorable strategy is the one-three-two-six tactic. This method is used to build up profits and limit risk.

Start by betting one chip. If you win, add another to the two on the game table for a grand total of three chips on the second bet. Should you succeed you will have 6 on the table, remove 4 so you are left with 2 on the third round. Should you come away with a win on the third bet, add 2 to the four on the game table for a sum total of 6 on the 4th round.

Should you do not win on the 1st round, you take a hit of 1. A profit on the first wager followed by a loss on the 2nd creates a hit of two. Wins on the initial 2 with a loss on the third provides you with a take of two. And success on the initial three with a hit on the fourth means you balance the books. Winning all 4 rounds gives you with twelve, a take of ten. This means you can not win on the 2nd round five times for every successful streak of four wagers and still balance the books.
